Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra

Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra
The Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra, directed by Tom Pesciotta

The Greater Rochester Jazz Orchestra was founded in 1996 by alto saxophonist Anthony Amoroso and former member Dr. Gary Kuhn; as a tribute to the great Count Basie Band. The GRJO features some of Basie's classic hits like Shiny Stockings, April in Paris, Corner Pocket and others. However, the band recognizes how jazz has evolved through the years by featuring several more contemporary arrangements of popular songs and also original music by band members.

The GRJO is comprised of area residents from all walks of life including students, business professionals and professional musicians. They dedicate themselves to continuing the advancement of jazz in a large ensemble format and to keeping this great music in view of the public. The band performs throughout the year at festivals, private functions and concert venues. We know you'll enjoy our performance and look forward to seeing you again throughout the coming year.
