Benjamin Tiberio is an ASCAP and Downbeat award-winning composer and bassist from Rochester, New York.
Ben credits his time at Fairport High School and the Eastman Community Music School as being crucial to his musical development, helping land him a full scholarship at the University of Miami for his undergraduate degree in jazz performance.
Ben began international endeavors during a semester abroad at the Sibelius Academy in Finland in 2012. Upon graduating from UM in 2014, Ben participated in the Banff Institute for Creative Music in Alberta, Canada, and the International Association of Schools of Jazz conference, held in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2015, Ben moved to New York City to begin earning his place as one of the leading voices on bass in his generation; one of his first and most continuously fulfilling ventures has been as a founding member of the fierce young jazz collective "Good Vibes," led by vibraphonist Joel Ross.
Ben has since performed at some of New York's premier jazz clubs, including Dizzy's Club, Smalls, Smoke, and Minton's Playhouse. His talents have taken him to festivals all around the United States, and most recently to Pakistan, as part of the American Music Abroad program. His credits include performances or recordings with Gretchen Parlato, Ambrose Akinmusire, Herlin Riley, Terell Stafford, Kenny Barron, Danilo Perez, Ben Wendel, Aaron Goldberg, among other notable artists.
With upcoming performances in both Canada and Europe, Ben looks towards broadened horizons in his continued musical pursuit.
