THANK YOU! For Making the 16th Edition a Magical 9-day Musical Experience!
Jul 21, 2017

Save the Dates for 2018!
June 22 - June 30, 2018

A big thanks to everyone who attended this year's festival!  And thank you Rochester for welcoming our more than 205,000 music lovers who came from all over the world to hear the amazing music of 1500 artists who performed in 325 concerts at 19 venues. That included more than 90 free shows on multiple stages!

Highlights included very well attended youth workshops led by leading festival musicians, two jam sessions, and the always impressive talent of our next generation of talented musicians performing in school bands and Eastman School of Music (ESM) ensembles.

Five XRIJF/ ESM jazz scholarships were awarded to outstanding young musicians who will attend the Eastman School of Music in the fall.

"We would like to personally thank the countless artists from around the world and our amazing and loyal patrons who together combined to create another magical nine day musical experience this year," said Producers John Nugent and Marc Iacona.

"Thank you to our tireless team and crews, volunteers and incredible sponsors, who help us bring our well respected festival to you all. It's a joy and complete pleasure to receive so many warm comments and artist suggestions."

"This was the 32nd festival I've been fortunate to have produced around the world as an artistic director," added Nugent, "and I think it may very well have been the finest lineup to date."

"We look forward to our 17th edition June 22-30, 2018. Never forget, it's the emerging artists who make XRIJF what is is. It's not who you know, it's who you don't know!"

A big thanks to our tireless XRIJF photographers who documented all aspects of this year's festival, from the music to the fans!

More Tommy Smith!

If you enjoyed the concerts with Tommy Smith or weren't able to make it, he's just released a new album marking his birthday and the 50th anniversary of the death (July 17, 2017) of one of his greatest inspirations, John Coltrane.
